Toto, I’ve a feeling we’re not in McLean anymore!
November 26, 2008Regarding a recent Gannett Blog TV episode aimed at my estimated 500 gay readers, plus assorted other Judy Garland fans who also love newspapers, Anonymous@9:34 p.m. commented yesterday:
“I am sure there are many people on this blog with different sexual persuasions, but many people do not choose to expose them. Why (don’t) you stick with the issue at hand and report on Gannett. I paid good money to you to support your efforts, and I am disappointed with the negative tone of your so-called reporting. Please Jim, clean it up and earn the reputation you deserve.”
Let’s put this in context, using my favorite tool: hard data! Including this one, I’ve published 1,887 posts since this blog’s start. Here are the number of those posts mentioning the word:
- Gannett: 1,204 (64% of all)
- My domestic partner, Sparky: 50 (2.6%)
- Gay or homosexual: 21 (1.1%)
- Judy Garland: 1 — and this is it! (0.05%)
Besides, what’s not to love about a guy named Sparky?!
