USAT: Top design and photo editor Curtis retiring

(Updated.) Managing Editor Richard Curtis, who oversees photography and design at Gannett’s flagship newspaper, has just told colleagues that he’s retiring, effective Dec. 23. One of six MEs, Curtis has been with the paper since January 1982, nine months before its launch. News of his retirement comes as USA Today‘s newsroom staff was said to be meeting today.
