Reporter wants to interview laid-off news staffers

Working for a very well-known publication, the reporter is researching a story about groups of laid-off newsroom employees who get together to “commiserate, network, and bemoan the state of the industry.” The reporter is looking for a similar group of laid-off Gannett news staffers to interview for his story; he asked me to post this note, and to serve as go-between.

If you are part of a group of laid-off GCI newsroom staffers, please e-mail me via gannettblog[at]gmail[dot-com]; see Tipsters Anonymous Policy in the green sidebar, upper right. I will then help put you in touch with the reporter.

Groups of laid-off reporters who get together to bitch (and no doubt imbibe heavily)? I can’t think of anything more depressing. I hope there’s a more hopeful spin on the story than that. Plus, who among readers would care?

Need something even more depressing? Just take a look at the price per share of GCI in April 2004. Then take a look at GCI’s price per share today.

    That was easy!
