Detroit Freep: Mayor pleads guilty, will resign

Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick pleaded guilty today to two felony counts of obstructing justice, seven months after the Freep disclosed that he’d lied under oath to hide an affair he was having with his chief of staff. His plea ended a high-profile drama that had “transfixed the region, paralyzed much of city business and halted a political career that once held such promise,” the paper is now reporting.
